Based out of Nova Scotia Canada, LifeRaft was incorporated in 2014 with a clear objective to advance corporate security. We deliver solutions to Organizations that allow them to respond appropriately to the challenges they face from the global adoption of open source channels.

Through the use of technology, we allow organizations to understand the conversations happening online to improve the safety of their assets and employees.

Executive Team

John Gallinaugh – Chief Executive Officer

John is a Co-Founding Partner in LifeRaft and is instrumental in business development, strategic planning, client relationships, sales and marketing. He brings over 20 years experience in the technology field, including a focus on mobile technologies for over the past six years.

John’s previous start-up resulted in the successful sale of the business to a Fortune 150 Company and he has been involved in a number of consultancy roles for various start-ups in Atlantic Canada. John attended New York Institute of Technology in New York City and Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Eduardo Capouya – Chief Technology Officer

As a Co-Founding partner in LifeRaft Eduardo manages the IT and R&D teams. Eduardo has been working in the tech industry since 1996, holding management positions at several IT companies throughout his career. Heavily focused in the mobile industry during the past 9 years, he has extensive experience dealing with wireless carrier integrations, and managing the development of complex applications and platforms, including direct mobile carrier integration all across the US, Canada, Europe and Latin America. Eduardo also has a degree from the Catholic University in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Darren MacLeod – Chief Marketing Officer

As CMO and a Co-Founding partner of LifeRaft, Darren brings a breadth of experience in strategic planning and implementation of SaaS based marketing platforms for some of the largest and most prestigious companies and organizations in the world. Previously, he served as Director of Commercial Sales at Radian6 (Salesforce.com), a pioneer in software-enabled social media monitoring and engagement.

Prior to Radian6, Darren has managed a number of successful tech start-ups and understands intrinsically the operations, internal structures, and challenges of businesses spanning all sizes. Having worked closely with clients and customers throughout his career, he strives to learn their challenges and tailor solutions that exceed their expectations. Darren attended Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia and holds a degree in Business Administration.

George Heinrichs - Senior Advisor

George Heinrichs is Managing Partner of Public Safety Ventures, a Longmont, Colorado based private equity and venture investing firm. PSV is focused on enhancing public safety through investment in and support of companies bringing technological advances to the broad spectrum of services that impact the health, safety and security of people worldwide.

Mr. Heinrichs recently retired from Intrado. Serving as President, he also served as CEO and was co-founder of Intrado Inc., a global provider of public safety communications services. The company was “boot-strapped” in the beginning, later raising venture funding, going public on the NASDAQ National Markets and finally being acquired by a larger public company for approximately one half billion dollars. A recognized expert in emergency services, Mr. Heinrichs has played a key role in the evolution of the emergency communication networks in the United States for the past thirty-five years.

Bob Levy – Senior Advisor

A veteran product executive, Bob Levy has held product, development, research, marketing and product line management roles at firms including IBM, Rational Software, Hancock Software, MathWorks, and marketing services firm Harte Hanks.

He served as founding president of the Boston Product Management Association, a leading 501(c) non-profit dedicated to technology product management and marketing professionals. Mr. Levy holds advisory roles with several Boston-based startups. A serial inventor, Bob’s patent portfolio includes innovations in bank capital management and software lifecycle management.

Daniella Degrace – Senior Advisor

Daniella has over 25 years of executive management experience through the development of 3 technology startups resulting in M&A exits over 1 billion dollars. As a former VP at Radian6/Salesforce, Q1 Labs (acquired by IBM) and Alcatel, Daniella knows the social media space intimately and brings a wealth of senior leadership and strategic experience to LifeRaft.

Daniella also brings development experience to the executive team, a proven track record in achieving KPI’s, the development of several customer engagement/management frameworks & scalable international service delivery models, operational discipline, exceptional CSAT and customer relationships and a strong understanding of what it takes for startup companies to succeed.

Dave Carroll – Strategic Business Development & Storyteller

Dave Carroll is an accomplished musician but chances are many people know him as a result of United Airlines breaking his guitar! Dave wrote a protest song titled “United Breaks Guitars” which chronicles the real-life experience of how his guitar was broken during a trip on United Airlines in 2008, and the subsequent reaction from the airline. The song became an immediate YouTube and iTunes hit upon its release in July 2009 and a public relations embarrassment for the airline.

As a result of this however, Dave became an authority and leading speaker on the power of social media. Dave quickly became (and continues to be today) a top choice for companies around the World for speaking engagements and for those who want to learn about how social media can positively or negatively affect any company or brand.

Ted Upshaw – Senior Advisor, Law Enforcement

Ted is a 28 year veteran of the RCMP and the former head of security at Canada Post. During his 28 year career with the RCMP, where he achieved the rank of Superintendent, he was known as an accomplished results-driven senior leader. Ted’s extensive and multi-dimensional experience in law enforcement and security enables him to appreciate how LifeRaft can be used to enhance policing and security effectiveness as an incident management enabler or as a predictive tool used to identify and inform pre-emptive actions.

Mick Ryan – Legal Counsel

William (Mick) Ryan, QC is a partner in Stewart McKelvey’s Halifax, Nova Scotia office and has a diversified practice in all areas of litigation including civil, construction, taxation, corporate commercial, family, criminal, Federal Court, real estate, and professional liability. Mr. Ryan also has extensive experience in property and real estate development matters. He excels in the courtroom and has acted as counsel in all levels of court throughout the Province of Nova Scotia, the Tax Court and Federal Court of Canada, and the Supreme Court of Canada. He is a member of both the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick bar associations.

Mr. Ryan has taught at Saint Mary’s University and Schulich School of Law, both located in Halifax, Nova Scotia and has given lectures in China, England, the United States and most provinces in Canada.

Andrew Boswell – President, Nova Communications

Andrew joins LifeRaft as a Senior Advisor and has extensive experience as a leader in growing technology companies. As the President of Nova Communications and the past Chair of The Halifax Chamber of Commerce, Andrew provides sound leadership and strategy to the team, and also his knowledge of wireless, mobility, and public safety.
